Enhance productivity & income
The smallholder farmer are those marginalized households whose families and communities have been engaged in agriculture over generations, own and cultivate on less than two hectares of land but they produce the majority of the world’s food.
The major challenge faced by the smallholder farmer is financial exclusion. Statistics show that of an estimated 500 million smallholder farmers in the world today, only less than 10% have access to finance with the remaining 90% being financially excluded and therefore have no access to the much needed financial resource they need to purchase basic production inputs such as quality seeds, fertilizers and chemicals.
ZA2 Agri seeks to create social impact within rural communities in Southern Africa through agriculture by making a substantial contribution to the well-being & prosperity of smallholder farmers, their families and communities. We do this through the use of technology to create access to financial services, manage risk (such as climate change) and other bottlenecks along the agro value chain, resulting in increased yields & quality of produce for the smallholder farmer. Our end goal is to integrate smallholder farmers into main stream commercial agriculture in a sustainable manner in order to increase their incomes and ultimately enhance their livelihoods.
